Welcome to Carynthia

It is my privilege and pleasure to invite you on a journey to the heart of Europe, to a realm where the soulful song of the mountains intertwines with the gentle whisper of the lakes. A place that celebrates the simple joy of living, spiced with culture, caressed by nature, and seeped in history – Carinthia, the jewel of Austria.

Carinthia, or Kärnten as it is lovingly called in the mother tongue, is where the alpine charm of Austria embraces the sunny soul of the Mediterranean. Here, the snow-capped peaks of the Alps dive headlong into the turquoise embrace of over 200 glacial lakes, forming an ethereal landscape that has inspired poets and painters alike.

Visitors can also explore the picturesque Lavanttal region, which is known for its beautiful vineyards, traditional culinary specialties, and cultural events.

The Maria Worth Lake, located in the southeastern part of the state is a popular destination for its beautiful setting and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

You can also explore the state's many cultural offerings, including museums, galleries, and festivals, which showcase the region's rich history and traditions. With its combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage and outdoor activities, Kaernten is a must-visit destination for any tourist.

Yet, Carinthia is more than just a picture-perfect postcard of Austria. It is a place of living tradition, of cultures that time has been unable to erase. Stroll along the cobblestone streets of its enchanting towns, and you’ll find quaint houses painted in cheerful hues, their windowsills brimming with a riot of colorful blooms. Each house stands as a testament to the legendary Carinthian hospitality, as welcoming as the people who dwell within.

The air in Carinthia is heavy with history. From the Roman relics in Teurnia, the medieval grandeur of Hochosterwitz Castle, to the surreal beauty of Maria Saal Cathedral, every stone, every corner tells a story of a time long past but not forgotten. A story that waits for you to become part of it.

As an artist paints with colors, Carinthia paints with flavors. The local cuisine, a delightful blend of Austrian, Italian, and Slovenian influences, is a gastronomic adventure waiting to be explored. Whether it's the hearty 'Kasnudeln', or a refreshing sip of the region's finest wines, every bite, every sip, is a celebration of Carinthia's rich cultural tapestry.

Yet, what truly sets Carinthia apart is not its breathtaking landscape, its culture, or its history, but its rhythm. A rhythm dictated not by the ticking of clocks, but by the rising of the sun, the blooming of the flowers, the changing of seasons. A rhythm that encourages you to pause, to breathe, to embrace the joy of the moment. A rhythm that is best experienced rather than explained.

Dear traveler, Carinthia beckons. It invites you to step off the beaten track, to experience the warmth of its people, the beauty of its landscapes, and the richness of its traditions. To discover a part of Austria that promises not just a vacation, but a heartfelt experience. To become a part of a story that has been unfolding for centuries.
