Maps, Books and Road Atlases
It's always worth asking at motel offices if they have a free map of the town available - most do. Yellow Pages also include town maps, if someone hasn't removed them.
The Rand McNally Road Atlas is also recommended (and very considerably cheaper in K-Mart or Walmart than in a book shop).
Books published in the USA are often considerably cheaper if purchased there rather than in the UK. This particularly applies to books about computers.
