Falkland Islands: The Unspoiled Wilderness of the South Atlantic

Jutting out from the tempestuous waters of the South Atlantic, the Falkland Islands are a haven for wildlife and a destination that invites you to delve into a world far removed from the one you know.

An archipelago of over 700 islands, the Falklands weave a fascinating story of human resilience, historic conflicts, and a rich tapestry of biodiversity

The Falklands are a place where time seems to stand still, a realm of endless horizons, windswept landscapes, and expansive skies. It's a destination where nature reigns supreme, a ruggedly beautiful archipelago that's home to a diverse range of fauna - from five species of penguins to various types of seals, sea lions, and whales. The Islands' white sandy beaches and turquoise waters are often speckled with these charming creatures, adding a lively touch to the tranquil scenery.

The Islands are also home to Stanley, the southernmost capital in the world. This quaint town, with its brightly colored houses, vintage red telephone boxes, and the iconic Christ Church Cathedral, exudes a distinctly British charm. The historic 1982 conflict between the UK and Argentina over the sovereignty of the Falklands is commemorated in several places around Stanley, including the Falkland Islands Museum and the 1982 Memorial.

Venture inland, and the landscapes evolve into a mosaic of moorlands, tussock grass fields, and dramatic cliffs. The lack of trees on the island creates unobstructed views of the scenery, offering fantastic opportunities for landscape photography. The hiking trails take you across rolling hills and along the rugged coastline, offering a chance to experience the islands' serenity up close.
