The American Tour Association began in 1989 with a simple purpose: to help tour operators create memorable journeys. To accomplish this task, the founder of the American Tour Association was a tour operator in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas and realized that the destinations offered by him and others are always the same old same old.
So, he started to travel, extensively, deep into Mexico, one of his main destinations, and discovered stunningly “off the beaten path” treasures and included those in his itineraries, which almost overnight catapulted him to become one of the most successful tour operators in the state of Texas.
As time progressed, he sent scouts to other places around the world to find the most interesting sites and places any country has to offer, but him and a small group of his friends decided to concentrate their search on the United States.
The fruits of their labor, and with the help of early collaborators, a terrific guide to “off the beaten path” places of interest in every single state took shape and was published in book form. Early attempts to bring the guide online failed due to technical limitations at that time.
However, those technical difficulties have now all been solved, and we are happy and proud to make this vacation planner to the most interesting sights, some of which have either be forgotten, others newly discovered, available to you.
