A coastal city with a long history

Benguela combines older architecture and squares with the Atlantic shore at Praia Morena. Its history includes the slave trade as well as commerce; approach the heritage with curiosity rather than treating every old façade as simple nostalgia.

A different day in Lobito

Lobito is a separate neighbouring city, known for its port and Restinga peninsula. Plan it as an outing with transport arranged. The coastline offers more than one place to stop; choose a few rather than trying to sample every beach.

Leave sea time unhurried

Ask locally about water conditions and appropriate places to swim on the day. Historic sights, a meal and time beside the ocean make a more satisfying day than a long list of beaches reached only for a photograph.

Give the day room to unfold

Pair a city visit with Praia Morena, then give Lobito or a further beach its own outing. Confirm railway services directly if a train journey matters to your trip.
