A little background
A valley shaped by work,
travel and community.
Pernitz’s story connects settlement along the Piesting with woodland trades, industry and the railway. The line through the valley opened in 1877; Pernitz became a market town in 1961.
The parish church is dedicated to St Nicholas. Its modern building dates from 1969–70 and incorporates the choir of its predecessor as a chapel.
