Markets, courtyards and living traditions

Bolivia’s regional differences reward listening as much as sightseeing.

Leave room for different identities

Indigenous languages, city traditions and regional histories cannot be reduced to one national costume or performance. Ask a local guide for the context of the place you are visiting.

Buy with interest and respect

Ask about materials, makers and prices, and request permission before photographing people or their stalls. A market is a workplace as well as a visitor experience.

A meal is part of the journey

Make room for regional food and conversation. Explain dietary needs clearly and follow current food and water guidance.

Give the day room to unfold

Arrange hosted or community visits with the people offering them, and agree the fee, language and group expectations.
