How nearby hotels are selected

Each individual place uses a named map point, visitor facility or explicitly identified gateway. The hotel list includes mapped hotels, motels and inns within 5 straight-line miles. If no matching property is found, the radius expands to 10 miles. A list is not expanded beyond 10 miles.

Large regions and long routes have no single meaningful center. Their pages either identify a named gateway or lead to individual destination hotel lists. A gateway search describes proximity to that gateway, not every part of the park, road or region.

Distances

Distances use the great-circle calculation between the reference coordinates and mapped property coordinates. They are not road distances or travel times. Some properties and reference points are mapped approximately; waterways, ferries, mountain roads and park entrances can substantially change the journey.

Hotel information

The lodging database contains 60,518 named U.S. properties from OpenStreetMap, with a source snapshot dated September 2026. It is a community-maintained selection, not a complete inventory or a quality assessment. Property websites and phone numbers are supplied where the record includes them. Confirm current operation, suitability and availability directly.
