A PLACE TO REMEMBER

Make room for the wonder.

The Teton Range rises sharply above lakes, meadows and the Snake River valley. Scenic pullouts and lakeshore stops make a rewarding introduction, with optional walks for those who want to stretch their legs.

BUILD YOUR OWN PARK DAY

Places to consider

  • 01Jenny Lake area
  • 02Jackson Lake views
  • 03Snake River overlooks

Choose the stops that suit your time and your party. These are ideas for exploring, rather than a fixed itinerary or a promise that every road, trail or facility will be open.

Make a day of Jenny Lake

When boat and trail access permit, combine a Jenny Lake crossing with a walk toward Hidden Falls or Inspiration Point. This is a more active outing than the roadside overlooks; allow for the return boat timetable and the climb. Jackson Lake views, the Colter Bay area and Signal Mountain offer other ways to explore the park.

Before you set out

Allow space around wildlife and confirm road and boat access. Mountain weather can change quickly even on a relaxed sightseeing day.

Give the day room

Allow time for the approach, parking and breaks. Pick walks for the least mobile members of your party, and leave space for weather or a change of plans.

Bring your group

Confirm vehicle access, drop-off and parking with the park. Check any guided tours, transport and accessibility arrangements before fixing the rest of the itinerary.

Check the official NPS guide for current access, fees, passes, reservations and permits. Gateway names identify useful surrounding communities or access areas, not exact entrance directions. Photographs may show earlier seasons or conditions.
