Why give it time?

A riverside old town, major art collections and a lakefront that makes a city stop feel unexpectedly spacious. Choose this as a base when you want time to explore on foot as well as visit a headline attraction. The pacing below is a suggestion, not a fixed tour.

Lindenhof

Climb gently through the old streets to the leafy terrace above the Limmat. It is an easy place to orient yourself before exploring both riverbanks.

Grossmünster

The twin towers shape the skyline and the church is central to the city’s history. Renovation is scheduled from 2025 to 2029, so check the current building and tower access before planning an interior or climb.

Kunsthaus Zürich

Choose the art museum when the party wants more than churches and shopping. Check exhibitions and tickets, and give one collection proper time rather than rushing every room.

Lakefront and river walks

Follow public promenades towards the lake, or select a boat service that fits your day. Confirm the precise departure point and product; a scenic cruise and an ordinary transport ticket may differ.

Something local for the table

Look for Zürich-style sliced veal or a vegetarian seasonal dish, and take coffee by the river. Fondue is an option, not an obligation at every meal.

Getting around & arranging your visit

Rail and tram connections make a car unnecessary for most central visits. Confirm local fare zones and any excursion inclusion. Use a separate half-day for the Rhine Falls.

Give the day room to unfold

Allow two nights. Walk the old centre and lakefront on one day, then choose the art museum or Rhine Falls on the next. Check Grossmünster works before assigning it a timed visit.
