Lemaire Channel

Mountains close in around a narrow waterway, with reflections when the sea chooses to cooperate.

A passage with a remarkable setting

Lemaire Channel lies between steep mountain scenery along the western Peninsula region. The appeal is the passage itself: scale, ice and changing light seen from the ship.

The channel may choose another day

Ice can prevent a transit. The bridge and expedition teams decide what is appropriate; an alternative route is part of a sensible voyage rather than a failed sightseeing promise.

Keep a little time for simply looking

Dress for the deck, protect your camera from the conditions and make room for others at a viewpoint. Put the camera down occasionally. Not every reflection needs to become a photograph.

Give the day room to unfold

Treat this as a possible visit within an arranged expedition. Current site guidance, ice, weather and operational decisions determine access.
