A harbour with layers

Nelson’s Dockyard is the centre of the area’s heritage story, with restored buildings and a working marina. Read the interpretation as well as looking at the boats: the place belongs to a history of naval power and the labour that sustained it.

Put the view in its setting

Combine a dockyard visit with Shirley Heights, allowing time for the climb or transfer and the weather. Harbour restaurants and nearby bays give you reasons to stay longer than a quick photograph.

Give the day room to unfold

Choose one main outing, confirm access and arrange the return journey. Leave time for a meal and a change of plan if the weather calls for it.
