Perito Moreno Glacier
Give the ice a full day, with time to look rather than chase a spectacle.
The glacier is a changing natural place. Its viewpoints offer a remarkable visit without a guarantee of calving or a need to join a strenuous ice activity. Plan around the authorised visitor routes and the weather.
Choose different walkway perspectives and stay long enough to notice scale, texture and sound. The experience is worthwhile without waiting for a particular collapse of ice. A boat trip or ice trek is a separate activity with its own operator requirements.
Allow the road transfer from El Calafate, park entry and the actual walking route a substantial day. Check current operations before booking additional activities, and leave a margin before any evening appointment.
Access & practical needs.
Walkways include different grades and stairs. Ask which route is suitable, and confirm specific eligibility and access requirements for any boat or ice activity. Bring clothing for wind and rapid changes.
Getting here & a useful base.
El Calafate is the practical base for this section of the park. Confirm the exact entrance and excursion pickup rather than confusing it with the park’s northern mountain areas.
