Choose a northern or southern extension to Yerevan according to your time. Avoid treating every place on the map as a day trip from the capital. Confirm current road conditions and travel advice with a competent local provider.

Season and elevation

Pack for changing mountain weather and choose walks appropriate to your experience. Ask about trail conditions, footwear and transport before committing to an outdoor day.

Churches and monasteries

These are places of worship as well as heritage. Dress respectfully, keep voices low and ask about photography. Leave time for local interpretation, rather than visiting only for the view.

Food and everyday encounters

Ask a host about a regional dish or market. Check ingredients when needed and leave room in the schedule for a meal that deserves a little longer.
