Follow the trading streets

Sheki, also written Shaki, makes a rewarding overnight stop. Walk the historic centre for caravanserais, craft shops and the rhythm of a smaller city.

Look closely at the workmanship

The Khan’s Palace is the main introduction to shebeke stained glass and intricate decoration. Leave time for workshops and a sweet-shop stop after the palace.

Slow the itinerary down

An overnight stay gives you a quieter morning before day visitors arrive. Ask locally about a separate outing to Kish rather than adding it automatically to a short visit.

Give the day room to unfold

Choose one main outing for each day and leave time for meals and the journey back. Confirm access, transport and any guided arrangements before setting out.
