Before you set out
Planning your Bahamas visit
A little planning leaves more time for the places you came to see. Choose a manageable route, confirm your transport and check current entry and local access requirements.

Choose the island before the hotel
An island-group name is not a transfer plan. Check the exact island or cay, airport code, arrival dock and final road or boat journey with the property. A resort may have facilities on more than one island.
Leave room between connections
Flights, ferries and local boats have different schedules and luggage rules. Verify services for the actual date and keep a buffer before international departures. A cancelled boat outing should not put the flight home at risk.
Boat days and marine life
Ask about the route, boat type, time at sea, lifejackets and what happens if weather changes. Choose responsible operators, follow protected-area rules and avoid touching or feeding wildlife. No particular animal encounter is guaranteed.
Weather, beaches and walking
Follow local forecasts, storm guidance and beach advice. Atlantic surf, currents and exposed roads deserve respect even when a neighbouring bay looks calm. Confirm park opening and any guided arrangements before setting out.
Entry and costs
Check entry requirements for your passport and current official travel advice. Ask about taxes, resort charges, transfers and cancellation terms. A public hotel contact does not establish ATA membership or a reservation.
