Make space for a conversation

A market meal, guided neighbourhood walk or hosted tea visit adds context that a sequence of photo stops cannot. Agree what is being offered and pay fairly for a host’s time.

Respect belief and privacy

Ask about dress and visitor etiquette at religious places. Seek permission before photographing people, homes or workplaces, and accept limits without argument.

Work is not a performance

Tea estates, river ports and fishing areas are working environments. Visit through appropriate hosts, keep clear of operations and do not assume access because a location is scenic.

Give the day room to unfold

Arrange visits with knowledgeable local hosts and confirm language, fees, access and group size.
