Look beyond a quick tea photograph

Arrange an estate visit with permission and a host who can explain the work. Tea gardens are workplaces and private land; do not walk through fields simply because a viewpoint is attractive.

Keep the day flexible

Ask about suitable countryside walks and current local access. Rain affects paths and transfers, so choose a route around the party’s ability and the conditions.

Give the day room to unfold

Choose one main outing for each day and leave time for meals and the journey back. Confirm access, transport and any guided arrangements before setting out.
