Before you set out
Planning your Belarus visit
A little planning leaves more time for the places you came to see. Choose a manageable route, confirm your transport and check current entry and local access requirements.

Read current advice first
The UK FCDO advises against all travel to Belarus, describing detention risks and limited consular support. Check your own government’s advice and discuss cover with your insurer. These heritage pages do not assess whether travel is appropriate for your circumstances.
Entry and border conditions
Rules depend on nationality and route of entry. Do not assume a visa exemption applies to a journey via Russia, or that an international train or road crossing is operating. Obtain current information from the relevant authorities before committing to transport.
Museums and access
Confirm exhibitions, admission, language options and accessibility with each institution. Historic towers and courtyards may involve stairs and uneven ground. Archival photographs illustrate heritage and do not establish present-day appearance or access.
Payments and accommodation
Ask your chosen property about lawful available payment methods, cancellation terms and registration requirements. A public contact listing does not establish ATA membership, a reservation or a recommendation to travel.
Photography and forest visits
Photography restrictions can apply to police, military personnel and strategically important locations. Protected forest and border areas have additional access controls. Follow current official guidance and do not enter restricted zones.
