Before you set out

Planning your Maldives visit

A little planning leaves more time for the places you came to see. Choose a manageable route, confirm your transport and check current entry and local access requirements.

Confirm entry before travel

Check current immigration, traveller-declaration and passport requirements through official channels. Your accommodation and onward journey must fit the rules for your nationality.

Book the island and transfer together

Ask for the exact airport or harbour pickup, boat or flight service, schedule, luggage limits, fare and weather contingency. Late arrivals may require an overnight connection.

Understand the local-island setting

Inhabited islands have local dress, religious and alcohol rules that differ from resort settings. Ask which areas permit swimwear and respect public conduct requirements.

Choose activities responsibly

Confirm swimming ability, qualified supervision, equipment and current sea conditions. Follow protected-species and reef rules and accept that wildlife may not appear.

Ask for the complete price

Confirm taxes, green tax, service charges, meals, transfers and cancellation terms in writing. Public hotel contacts do not establish ATA membership or a confirmed reservation.
