Nayarit travel guide

Nayarit is more than a single beach destination. The official state directory introduces coastal places such as Sayulita and San Blas as well as inland Jala, where the focus shifts to town history and architecture. Decide which kind of visit you want before choosing accommodation.

Choose your starting point

Jala provides a useful inland counterpoint to a coastal stay. Give the town time on its own terms: a walk, local food and a conversation about its history can be more rewarding than treating it as a brief detour. Check current events and visitor arrangements through the official destination information.

Plan the visit around your route

For a multi-stop journey, plot the route and confirm transfers before combining coast and interior. A hotel’s regional marketing label can cover a broad area. If your route crosses from neighbouring Jalisco, check the actual location and travel time for each stop rather than assuming every beach town is close to Puerto Vallarta.
