SEE HOW THE PLACES FIT TOGETHER

Find your way around.

Select a pin or place name to open its guide directly. Gold marks the first-time highlights, teal the places beyond the beaten path.

Orientation only: approximate city positions, with leader lines for nearby cities. Boundary data: Natural Earth, public domain ↗. Mainland Norway shown for orientation; Svalbard and Jan Mayen are outside this map. Not a road or transport map; this first selection does not cover every region.

Build your own journey

Places to combine in one trip.

Art & the western fjords

Give Oslo its own stay, then connect Bergen and Flåm through a deliberately planned rail-and-fjord chapter. Choose an overnight rather than forcing every connection into one rushed day.

A fjord-side rhythm

Pair Bergen with a Balestrand stay and the Ålesund region only when the transport and season support the plan. These are distinct bases, not neighbouring stops on a short loop.

Heritage & the north

Combine Trondheim and Røros as one inland-and-city chapter. Add Tromsø as a separate northern stay with realistic onward travel, rather than describing it as a quick side trip.

These are route ideas, not packaged tours or confirmed transport schedules. Adjust the number of stops and nights to your pace; separate transfers need time of their own.

A FEW USEFUL ESSENTIALS

Before you travel.

Plan the complete connection

Use Entur for trains, buses and other public transport, then verify the actual boat operator and quay. Leave time for boarding and luggage.

Seasons shape the route

Mountain roads, boats, daylight and opening programmes vary. A summer route should not be copied unchanged into winter.

Northern light, realistic expectations

Choose dates for the experience you want and keep several worthwhile city or cultural chapters. Aurora and wildlife depend on nature and conditions.
