Beyond the beaten path

Distinctive places, local traditions and discoveries that reward a longer stay. Give them time beyond a hurried stop.

Unique attractions not to be missed

Ifugao rice terraces

CORDILLERA · NORTHERN LUZON

A living agricultural landscape, cared for by communities.

The terraces are working landscapes with cultural significance, not simply scenic steps on a hillside. Batad is one of the UNESCO-inscribed clusters; the wider Banaue area includes places with different access and heritage status. Choose a locally guided visit that respects the people and the farming work.

SEE HOW THE PLACES FIT TOGETHER

Find your way around.

Select a pin or place name to open its guide directly. Gold marks the first-time highlights, teal the places beyond the beaten path.

Orientation only: approximate city positions, with leader lines for nearby cities. Boundary data: Natural Earth, public domain ↗. Philippines shown for orientation. Not a road or transport map; this first selection does not cover every region.

Build your own journey

Places to combine in one trip.

History in Luzon

Give Manila time for Intramuros and a national collection, then make Vigan a separate northern stay. The journey between them needs a proper travel chapter.

A considered Visayas journey

Pair a Cebu city chapter with Bohol, or choose Dumaguete and Siquijor as a different island pairing. Confirm the actual flights or ferries before fixing the route.

Palawan by distinct bases

Choose Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Coron only when the time available supports their different road, flight and sea connections. A shorter journey may be better with two bases.

These are route ideas, not packaged tours or confirmed transport schedules. Adjust the number of stops and nights to your pace; separate transfers need time of their own.

Before you travel.

Choose the islands first
