Tyrol · A useful starting point

Find your kind of Tyrol.

Start with an urban base in Innsbruck or choose one valley. Arlberg, the Zillertal, Außerfern and East Tyrol have different journeys and seasons, they are not interchangeable stops on one easy loop.

Different places, different kinds of day

Choose the experience first.

Innsbruck, city & mountain choices

Use the old town and cultural collections as the core, then add a single lift outing when conditions and operation suit. Mountain stages need their own plan.

The eastern resort towns

Kitzbühel and Mayrhofen each support their own stay. Choose the valley and activities first, then compare the exact railway stop with your accommodation.

Arlberg & Außerfern

St. Anton is a rail-served mountain resort. Reutte offers a different castle-and-valley visit, with onward transport to Ehrenberg arranged separately.

East Tyrol, a separate chapter

Lienz is the useful starting point for a town-and-culture visit in Osttirol. Check the full approach rather than assuming it is a quick local hop from Innsbruck.

An outline to adapt

Give the journey breathing room.

A suggested stay

Three nights in Innsbruck: arrival and the old town, one museum or palace day, then a weather-dependent mountain outing. Add another stay in one valley rather than travelling between several resorts every day.

Places with their own ATA guides

Find the useful local details.

Before fixing the dates

Make the small decisions early.

Families & access needs

Choose the named route and venue facilities that suit your party. A promenade, hilltop castle, cave and mountain trail have different demands. Ask about surfaces, steps, toilets and the full room-access route.

Seasons & reservations

A lift ride does not establish an easy walk at the top. Check the complete route, operating stages and return time. Spring and autumn can have maintenance gaps even when the village is welcoming visitors.

Meals & direct hotel contacts

Use the local guides for food planning and selected hotel contacts. Ask the hotel directly about rooms and the complete price. Contact ATA when you would like help arranging group accommodation.

For tour operators & group organisers

One stay or a whole itinerary?

Tell us where and when you are travelling and how many rooms you need. Ask about coach access, guided visits, meal times and mobility requirements when arranging the itinerary.
