The Queen’s Staircase

A shaded limestone passage and steps hold a difficult part of Nassau’s history.

Remember the people who made it

The staircase was cut by enslaved people in the late eighteenth century. Approach it as a historical place, with time for context as well as photographs.

Make the walking manageable

The steps are only part of the visit. Consider heat, surfaces and the approach from your starting point; a guide can help connect it with the surrounding town.

Give the day room to unfold

Ask about current access and the route that suits your party. Bring water and shoes with grip, and confirm any guide fee before the visit.
