SEE HOW THE PLACES FIT TOGETHER

Find your way around.

Select a pin or place name to open its guide directly. Gold marks the first-time highlights, teal the places beyond the beaten path.

Orientation only: approximate positions, with leader lines separating nearby places. Boundary data: Natural Earth, public domain ↗. Belgium shown for orientation. Not a road or transport map; this first selection does not cover every region.

Build your own journey

Places to combine in one trip.

An art-city introduction

Choose Brussels with Ghent and Bruges for a journey that combines major collections, canals and neighbourhood evenings. Give each base time instead of moving hotels every night.

Two rivers and a different rhythm

Use Namur and Dinant as distinct Meuse Valley stops, then give Liège its own art and river chapter. Check the actual train connection and leave time for the hilltop visits.

Smaller cities, substantial stories

Combine Leuven or Mechelen with a carefully planned Ypres stay. The remembrance visit deserves its own pace rather than being squeezed into a standard sightseeing day.

These are route ideas, not packaged tours or confirmed transport schedules. Adjust the number of stops and nights to your pace; separate transfers need time of their own.

A FEW USEFUL ESSENTIALS

Before you travel.

Plan the final station connection

The main railway station may be outside the historic core. Include the last tram, bus or walk in every arrival.

Check city vehicle rules

Traffic circulation, low-emission zones and coach drop-offs differ by city. A central hotel does not guarantee access for your vehicle.

Official transport guidance →

Allow for regional languages

Dutch, French and German are used in different parts of Belgium. Keep the exact address and both station names when useful.

Check restoration before booking

Leuven’s Town Hall and other historic venues may have restricted access. Use the venue’s current programme instead of an old photograph.
