Look at the whole ceremonial setting

Xunantunich’s plazas, temples and palace remains make more sense with interpretation. A guide can help connect the architecture and decorative friezes rather than focusing only on the tallest structure.

Access is part of the plan

The usual approach involves the Mopan River crossing and an uphill journey. Confirm ferry operation, current site conditions and transport; follow staff instructions on permitted climbing.

Give the day room to unfold

Allow a half-day or more from San Ignacio, including transfers and a guided visit. Bring water and suitable footwear; the site has exposed areas and steps.
