Ask what is appropriate

Dzongs and temples have active religious and civic roles. Let your guide explain when to enter, how to dress and where photography is permitted.

Meet through an agreed visit

A hosted meal or craft session should be arranged with the people offering it. Confirm the fee, language and expectations rather than assuming homes or workshops are open attractions.

Choose depth over another stop

A quiet conversation, a meal or a guided walk can add more than another long drive. Respect a host’s time and any wish not to be photographed.

Give the day room to unfold

Arrange cultural visits through licensed local providers and confirm current access, group size and charges.
