Forest trails and waterways offer a rewarding mainland day beyond the coast.

Come for the forest

The sanctuary protects habitat associated with jaguars and many other species. Enjoy trees, birds and the sounds of the forest; sightings of elusive mammals are not something a guide can guarantee.

Match the route to your party

Ask about current trail conditions, river levels and the difficulty of any waterfall walk. Rain changes footing and access, and a short distance can still involve a demanding trail.

Give the day room to unfold

Arrange road transport from Hopkins or another suitable base. Confirm opening, fees and any guided requirement; carry water and follow the sanctuary’s instructions.
