Several habitats, one protected area
Hol Chan includes reef, seagrass and mangrove habitats. Ask your operator which areas are on the actual itinerary and what the boat ride and water entry involve.
Be a considerate visitor
Follow the guide and reserve rules, maintain distance from marine life and avoid contact with coral. Tell the operator your swimming ability; a photograph does not promise a particular animal encounter.
Give the day room to unfold
Choose a licensed operator, confirm flotation equipment and fees, and be prepared to change plans for weather. Diving and snorkelling have different requirements.
