La Quebrada

A narrow rocky inlet provides the dramatic setting for Acapulco’s professional cliff-diving tradition.

The place and its story

Why it deserves time

La Quebrada is associated with experienced divers whose performances depend on timing and knowledge of the water below. It should be understood as a skilled professional activity, never an invitation for visitors to imitate a jump. The setting itself is striking: steep rock faces frame a narrow channel where sea conditions matter. Viewing arrangements can differ between public areas and commercial venues, so a photograph of a performance does not tell you what is included in a ticket.

Slow down and notice

Three things to look for

01

Notice the shape of the inlet and how waves move through it. That setting explains why timing is central to the performance.

02

Watch from an authorized viewing area and keep behind barriers. Do not approach a cliff edge for a better angle.

03

Give the divers space and follow staff instructions rather than interrupting preparation for photographs.

Make a thoughtful visit

Plan your visit

Check the current Guerrero travel advisory before planning a visit. If your travel plans remain appropriate, confirm that performances are operating, the day’s times and the exact viewing arrangements directly with the venue. Ask about steps, standing areas and access for anyone with limited mobility. Do not assume a meal, transfer or particular performance is included without confirmation. Weather can change the programme.

Time allowances are ATA planning suggestions, not opening hours. Confirm admission, availability and access directly before travelling.
