Poland · Make the journey your own

Choose a base.
Leave room to discover.

Royal streets, Baltic days, smaller historic towns and Warmian lakes make different holidays. Choose one part of the country at a time, then use our local guides for the details that make the visit work.

Five suggested travel areas

Start with the experience you want.

These are ATA travel groupings for our current ten destinations, not a directory of all sixteen Polish administrative regions.

Kraków & a slower Małopolska chapter

Choose Kraków for royal-city culture, then Tarnów for a smaller city and a separately arranged painted-village outing. Give each underground or remembrance visit its own time.

A suggested stay

Five nights: three or four in Kraków, then one or two in Tarnów if adding Zalipie. Reserve full travel and admission blocks for separate excursions. This is an ATA suggestion, not a fixed package.

Gdańsk & Toruń, two trading-city stories

Combine a Baltic city stay with medieval streets and gingerbread workshops in Toruń. Allow a travel block between bases, rather than making Toruń a hurried stop with luggage.

A suggested stay

Five or six nights: three in Gdańsk and two in Toruń, with an extra night when adding coastal outings. Check the actual rail journey and onward station connections for your dates.

Poznań & Wrocław, a western city pair

Codebreakers, croissant traditions, river islands and imaginative museums make contrasting city visits. Select one major experience each day and leave time for ordinary streets.

A suggested stay

Four or five nights split between the two cities. Keep the intercity journey in its own part of the day and avoid booking a timed museum immediately after arrival.

Sandomierz & Zamość, a separate southeastern stay

These smaller historic places reward time, but they are not adjacent neighbourhoods. Compare the full route before combining them, especially without a car.

A suggested stay

Plan at least an overnight chapter in each town you choose. A three-town journey needs additional travel time, so it is better treated as a separate trip than an extension of a single Kraków day.

Warsaw & Olsztyn, culture then green space

Use Warsaw for major collections and neighbourhoods, then choose Olsztyn for Warmian history and a distinct lakeside chapter. Compare city-centre and lake accommodation deliberately.

A suggested stay

Five or six nights: three or four in Warsaw, then two in Olsztyn. Give the connecting journey its own block and check the last city connection before reserving dinner at the lake.

Before fixing the dates

Keep the practical choices simple.

Rail & the final connection

Check the dated long-distance train, the actual arrival station and the last local connection. Toruń Główny is across the river from the Old Town; a station arrival is not automatically a hotel arrival. Reserve travel time between bases.

Families & accessibility

Choose an exact route and one main attraction a day. An old-town stroll, underground tour, tower and loess ravine have different demands. Ask the attraction about steps, surfaces and the full accessible route; ask the hotel about the room and entrance.

Seasons & timed visits

Reserve a particular workshop language, museum slot or performance rather than assuming all activities operate daily. Lake, coast and countryside experiences need their own seasonal plan. Use the local guide links for current arrangements.

Direct hotels & group assistance

Every local guide retains two selected hotels with address, telephone and official website, plus a researched dining option. Contact businesses directly for current offers. Ask ATA when you would like help arranging group accommodation.
