Chiapas travel guide
Chiapas is best approached as several journeys rather than one easy circuit. Around Tuxtla Gutiérrez, our guides introduce Sumidero Canyon, Chiapa de Corzo and Parque de la Marimba. The jungle destinations of eastern Chiapas require a separate assessment of distance, access and current regional advice.

Start with the Tuxtla area if the canyon and nearby cultural stops are your focus. A boat trip and a viewpoint visit are different experiences; confirm the departure point, weather and operating arrangements. Leave space in the day for Chiapa de Corzo rather than treating it only as a transfer stop.
Plan the visit around your route
The official links also describe Yaxchilán and Lacanjá Chansayab. Do not assume that a tourism description confirms present-day access. Check official travel advice, local conditions and community arrangements before planning remote excursions. Choose local guides who can explain both the landscape and the rules for visiting respectfully.
