Morelos travel guide
Morelos offers town-based visits where architecture, local traditions and time in the streets can matter more than the number of stops. Tlayacapan is one starting point, while the Convent of Saint Matthew the Apostle introduces another aspect of the state’s religious architectural heritage.

In Tlayacapan, look beyond a quick photograph of the centre. Ask about local craft activity and the calendar of public celebrations, and leave time for a meal. If a festival is your reason for visiting, confirm the actual date and public arrangements rather than assuming a performance happens every day.
Plan the visit around your route
At convents and churches, establish which spaces are open and respect worship and conservation restrictions. Different buildings may have different access arrangements. Choose your overnight base after plotting the places you want to visit; the official state directory also introduces Tepoztlán and other alternatives for a focused Morelos stay.
