Yucatán travel guide
Yucatán state is distinct from neighbouring Quintana Roo. Our Mérida guide introduces Plaza Grande, Paseo de Montejo and Uxmal, with city-based accommodation and dining contacts. Tekax and coastal communities such as San Felipe offer different extensions beyond the capital.

Use Mérida as a city visit in its own right, with time for plazas, museums and food. Uxmal is a separate archaeological outing; check access, transport and conditions before setting out. For Tekax’s caves and surrounding sites, ask about suitable guides and the requirements of the specific activity.
Plan the visit around your route
Coastal and mangrove experiences deserve their own planning. Ask an operator about current conditions and responsible wildlife viewing, without assuming a particular bird or animal will appear. Choose between an inland and a coastal extension according to the time available, and confirm the journey back before leaving your base.
